Kerigma Project

A journey between Jerusalem and Ephesus to return to the heart of the Gospel

The Kerigma Project stems from the desire to educate young people, seminarians, priests and lay people in the essentials of the Christian faith – the kerigma, the proclamation of the Gospel – through living contact with the places of the Incarnation and the mission of the first apostolic communities, in a simple and fraternal, “cenacle” style.

The tools of the project are two houses located in symbolic places of the “geography of salvation” of the New Testament:

  • Casa Kerigma – Jerusalem, in the heart of the Holy Land, listening to the events of the Cenacle and the nascent Church.

  • Casa Kerigma – Ephesus, in Asia Minor, in the footsteps of Paul, John, Mary and the first Christian communities, between the Gospel, the Fathers and the Councils.

Together, these two houses aim to be a lamp lit in the service of the flame of the Holy Spirit: places where one can be comforted, regenerated and sent forth again, because ‘in Jerusalem you will be comforted’ (Is 66:13) and from Ephesus the Church continues to think and live the Gospel for today's world.

Target audience and purpose

The Kerigma Project is aimed in particular at:

  • young people and university students who desire a powerful experience of faith, service and community;

  • seminarians and candidates for the ministry, for a sober, concrete human and spiritual formation, capable of fraternal life and openness to the world;

  • priests and religious men and women who need time for rest, spiritual renewal and discernment;

  • committed lay people, families and parish groups seeking paths of prayer, listening to the Word and community renewal;

  • theological faculties and institutes of formation interested in study and research experiences on site (including intensive courses, summer schools, exchanges and Erasmus-type programmes).

At the service of the Church and the Dioceses

The Kerigma Project is conceived as a shared pastoral experiment, at the service of the local Churches and the universal Church. It is carried out in close collaboration with the Patriarchate of Jerusalem, the Archdiocese of Izmir and the Archdiocese of Reggio Calabria-Bova, under the patronage of the Dicastery for Christian Unity and the Dicastery for the Oriental Churches, with the support of various ecclesial and academic entities.
